Economist: Baghdad International Energy Forum opens prospects for major strategic projects

The Baghdad International Energy Forum is a qualitative event held for the first time in the region, according to economist Dr. Nasser al-Kanani, speaking to Iraqi al-Hadath, noting that the forum is not limited to the oil sector only, but includes gas, renewable energy, electricity, nuclear, chemical and thermal energy.

Al-Kanani revealed that he has put forward a strategic project to lay oil and gas pipelines from the Arabian Gulf, through the port of Faw or Mubarak, through Iraq, Iran and Turkey to the Black Sea, in order to facilitate the export of energy to Europe and America in faster and safer ways.

The Baghdad International Energy Forum is an important economic message to the world about investment opportunities in Iraq, he told Al-Hassad.

Al-Kanani explained that the forum is not limited to oil, but encompasses all forms of energy: Renewable, electrical, nuclear, chemical and thermal, stressing that this diversity reflects Iraq's seriousness in becoming a regional energy center.

He pointed out that the success of the project depends on the approval of OPEC and the participation of seven oil-producing countries in the region, stressing that the forum is an opportunity to adopt initiatives that strengthen Iraq's position as a major hub in global energy markets and support development projects and the road.
