Message from Dr. Abbas Radi, President of Ghadan Risk Management
In the name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Excellencies and Excellencies, Ladies and Gentlemen, Honored Guests of Iraq.
May God's peace, mercy and blessings be upon you.
When we reflect on the history of Iraq, we find that this land has always been a crossroads of civilizations and a source of knowledge. Today, we want to restore this fact in a contemporary world full of dangers and challenges.
The Baghdad International Energy Forum is not just a passing dialogue or a protocol procedure, but a sustainable platform for dialogue and joint action, reflecting Iraq's mission: To be a bridge between producers and consumers, between the ambitions of development and the necessities of sustainability, between the past that created its status and the present that qualifies it to create the future.
Iraq sees itself not only as an exporter of oil and gas, but also as a responsible actor that seeks to balance its national interests with the requirements of the global energy system. Our goal is to turn this forum into a permanent institutional tradition, where common visions are formulated and practical partnerships are built to face the challenges of energy security and energy transition, and to chart paths of cooperation that ensure development for our peoples and stability for our markets.
This moment is highly symbolic: Sixty-five years ago, Baghdad was the birthplace of OPEC, and today it is reclaiming its role as the cradle of a new, more inclusive and sustainable dialogue.
On behalf of Iraq and the Ghadan Risk Management Foundation, I welcome you all and invite you to work together to make this forum a message of hope and confidence to the world, and a message of commitment that Iraq remains as it has always been: An active and responsible partner in shaping the future of energy.
In conclusion, I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the success of this forum, especially the Ghadan Risk Management team, friend Ahmed Alwandi, the Executive Director of the forum, the Ministries of Oil and Foreign Affairs, and the Iraqi Oil Marketing Company (SOMO) for their fruitful cooperation. I am also pleased to thank the Secretary General of OPEC on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the organization's founding in Baghdad, which has become a global symbol of cooperation among producing countries.
I would also like to thank the Prime Minister, Mr. Mohammed Shi'a Al-Sudani, for the great support he has given to the establishment and success of this forum.
May God's peace, mercy and blessings be upon you.
