Baghdad to host largest international energy forum

The capital Baghdad is preparing to host the Baghdad International Energy Forum on September 6-7, 2025, with the wide participation of government officials, OPEC energy ministers, international experts and representatives of major international companies operating in the oil, gas and renewable energy sector.

The forum is one of the region's leading specialized events and comes at an important time when global energy markets are undergoing major strategic shifts.

The forum, organized by Ghadan Risk Management in cooperation with the Ministry of Oil, SOMO, the Central Bank, the Iraqi Institute for Dialogue and the Media and Communications Authority, aims to highlight the future of the energy industry in Iraq and ways to promote foreign investments, in addition to discussing issues related to energy security, the shift towards sustainable sources, and the challenges of climate change.

The forum will be attended by a number of Iraqi ministers and officials as well as representatives of regional and international organizations, economists and researchers specialized in energy affairs. The event will feature panel discussions and specialized workshops on several topics, including:

Increase Iraqi oil production and develop infrastructure.

Investment prospects in the gas sector and reducing dependence on imports.

Renewable energy projects and Iraq's role in the global shift towards clean sources.

The security and political challenges associated with the region's energy sector.

The forum is widely covered by the media and is co-sponsored by a number of specialized media platforms, including Iraq Oil Report, known for its research reports on the Iraqi energy sector, Washington-based Energy News, and Argus Media.

The forum is an important platform for dialogue between the Iraqi government and international investors, contributing to drawing a roadmap for the country's energy future, especially as Iraq seeks to balance its climate commitments with its need to maximize oil and gas revenues.
