Ghadan Foundation for Risk Management and the European Foundation for Dialog and Development organize a seminar on "Iraq in the new European strategy"

The European Foundation for Dialog and Development (EIDE), in cooperation with the Ghadan Foundation for Risk Management, held an expanded intellectual and diplomatic symposium under the title: "Iraq in the new European strategy: opportunities and challenges", on 20/06/2026 in the Green Zone - the Prime Minister's Guest House in Baghdad, with the participation of diplomats, researchers and experts in political and strategic affairs, and the European Union Ambassador to Iraq and his deputy, and the Ambassadors of Switzerland and Austria.

The Tomorrow Foundation was represented in this symposium by Mr. Ahmed Al-Wendi, Vice President of the Foundation, and Dr. Ali Al-Mamouri, a specialist in the field of community risks.

And this symposium comes in the context of the increasing interest in strengthening the paths of dialog between Iraq and the European Union, in light of the rapid regional and international transformations taking place in the region and the world, and the accompanying reformulation of political, economic and security priorities in the structure of international relations, especially towards the countries of the Middle East and Iraq in particular.

The seminar shed light on Iraq's position in the new European strategy, and explored the directions of future cooperation between the two sides in various fields, including political and diplomatic relations, economic and investment cooperation, as well as the files of regional security, energy, migration and sustainable development, which have become key axes in the partnership agenda between Baghdad and Brussels.

And discussed the most prominent challenges that may face the course of Iraqi-European relations, whether at the level of the complex regional environment or internal economic, security and development challenges, in addition to discussing ways to transform these challenges into opportunities to enhance partnership and integration of interests between the two sides.

The participants stressed the importance of developing partnerships between Iraq and the European Union in light of the current geopolitical shifts, and the need to invest in the areas of sustainable development and regional risk management.
