Executive Director of the Baghdad International Energy Forum: Iraq is regaining its role as a strategic hub in energy markets
Baghdad International Energy Forum (BIEF) Executive Director Ahmed Alwandi said that holding the forum for the first time in Iraq is a strategic platform for OPEC's second largest producer to present its vision and messages in the field of energy.
He told Ghadan Risk Management that the forum is supported by the Oil Export Organization (OPEC), the Ministry of Oil, the Oil Marketing Company (SOMO) and Prime Minister Mohammed Shi'a Al-Sudani, and aims to establish Iraq's first sustainable platform similar to Aramco, ADNOC and KPC.
The forum, sponsored by SOMO, will be held annually and will bring together senior officials and international companies to discuss challenges and opportunities in energy markets.
The forum, which kicked off on Saturday at the Rashid Hotel in Baghdad and is organized by Ghadan Risk Management, will continue for two days, including ministerial sessions, major company discussions, the presentation of OPEC's annual report, as well as gas files and global oil prices.
