OPEC Secretary General from Baghdad: Iraq will remain a vital hub in the global energy system
During his participation in the Baghdad International Energy Forum, OPEC Secretary General Haitham Al-Ghais stressed that his presence is a "great honor" as Baghdad is the cradle of civilizations, the beating heart of the region, and the founding place of the Organization, which has played a pivotal role in balancing the global oil markets since its inception.
Al-Ghais added that Iraq will remain a vital hub in the international energy system, stressing that the organization renews its commitment to work for a sustainable energy future that balances the needs of development and environmental protection.
The Secretary General pointed out that OPEC's presence in Baghdad today carries a symbolic and historical dimension that reflects Iraq's leading role in shaping global energy policies since the establishment of the Organization in 1960, stressing that the current challenges make strengthening cooperation among producing countries more urgent.
