Ghadan Foundation Enters the United Nations Risk Organizations List in Iraq
The United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) has included the Ghadan Foundation for Risk Management – Iraq | GFRMiraq in its directory of NGOs working on risk in Iraq.
This inclusion is in honor of the Foundation's efforts in strengthening national risk resilience and crisis management in a systematic and sustainable manner.
Ghadan aims to strengthen national resilience in Iraq through systematic analysis of strategic risks, including geopolitical, economic, social, technological, environmental and natural disasters, and providing evidence-based insights to support public policy and risk governance.
The Foundation's activities in the field of disaster risk reduction (DRR) include: preparing an annual national strategic risk management report to be shared with decision-makers in Iraq, identifying, assessing and classifying political, security, economic, environmental and social risks, including an analytical review of government actions in the field of risk management, providing policy recommendations based on international frameworks, and holding workshops to enhance capacity and raise awareness among government agencies and civil society about risk assessment and preparedness."
This inclusion in the UN Handbook is an important step that allows GADA to expand its collaboration with international and national entities, and enhance its efforts in raising the level of readiness and efficiency in facing challenges and risks at the national level.
