Shams Channel: Iraq seeks to change the image of oil investment through the Baghdad International Energy Forum

The Baghdad International Energy Forum is an opportunity to formulate practical policy papers to be presented to OPEC and Arab governments, with the aim of finding realistic solutions to current and future challenges, primarily oil price fluctuations, according to Shams News Channel from Erbil.

The report noted that the forum discussed the need for a balanced investment that includes different types of energy, after the past years witnessed a sharp decline in oil and gas investment. Organizers stressed that this message is at the core of the forum, ensuring a rebalancing of the global oil market.

The report also highlighted Baghdad's efforts to change the prevailing image of the investment environment in the Iraqi oil sector, especially after a number of Western companies withdrew in 2021 due to the security situation. The forum aims to establish the Iraqi capital as a platform for international dialogue on energy issues by attracting foreign investments and building strategic partnerships, in addition to discussing energy security as a key pillar of economic development and regional stability.
