President receives delegation participating in the Baghdad International Energy Forum
President of the Republic Dr. Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid received, on Saturday (September 6, 2025), at Al-Salam Palace in Baghdad, a delegation of participants in the Baghdad International Energy Forum, which included OPEC Secretary General Haitham Faisal Al-Ghais, Libyan Minister of Oil and Gas Khalifa Rajab Mohammed Abdul Sadiq, First Undersecretary of Production at the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum Ehab Rajai, and Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey Ahmed Berat Cuncar, in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Oil Minister Hayan Abdul Ghani, in Baghdad.
During the meeting, the president emphasized Iraq's keenness to upgrade the energy sector and strengthen regional and international partnerships to serve the aspirations of peoples for progress and stability, pointing out that Iraq has the ingredients to invest in its natural resources and adopt sustainable solutions, as well as its role as a pivotal partner in the transformation towards a green economy and renewable energy.
His Excellency stressed that Iraq is living in a new phase of security and stability, which allows for real investment in the oil and gas sector, calling for the establishment of a sovereign fund from energy revenues to ensure the rights of current and future generations.
The president also considered the forum a promising step to highlight Iraq's leading role in the energy sector and open new horizons for cooperation with international companies, wishing the forum success and participants success in reaching decisions that serve national development.
For their part, members of the delegation expressed their thanks and appreciation to the president, valuing his visions and emphasizing their serious desire to deepen cooperation with Iraq in various sectors.
